Happiness
The word happiness can be described in many ways. When you talk about your happiness, you may be talking about anything in life. It can also describe the way others feel when something good happens. As Aristotle said,”Happiness depends upon ourselves,” we try our best to be happy by doing things that make us feel cheerful. To me happiness means spending time with my family and friends, and being able to have my own free time to do whatever I want.
When I am feeling melancholy, I try and find something that would cheer me up. Sometimes I start dancing to random music or even just watching funny videos online. I feel that it is sometimes my responsibility to comfort someone when they seem lonely or unhappy. I try to be happy so others can be happy as well. When you show people you are happy, there is a 50/50 chance that their mood will be brought up.
I am always in a very happy mood when I get to spend time with my cousins. They constantly make me laugh and smile at the most random times. There was one time where we were at a picnic and my baby cousin was eating salad and some broccoli. I went over to him, he turned around, then gave me a big smile. It was very funny because there was a piece of broccoli stuck in his teeth! While I was laughing him and and his sister were also laughing, which made me very happy. It makes me so joyous to see them because it reminds me that I am very fortunate to have them.
Happiness can not be just about money and the things you buy. It should always include family, friends, and things without having to do with money. We can always remind others that happiness is key. If that does not work, try to relate to their problem and cheer them up.
Pablo Picasso:
Pablo Picasso was born on October 25, 1881 in Malaga, Spain. He was a Spanish sculptor, painter, printmaker, ceramicist, stage designer, poet and playwright. Pablo spent most of his time in France studying. He was accepted to go into the advanced classes of art at the Royal Academy of Art in Barcelona only at the age of fifteen. Pablo Picasso died on April 8, 1973.
Picasso was a very skilled artist. Most of his famous art pieces include oil paint, sculpture and collage, and abstract paintings of human figures. Picasso’s “Blue Period” was a time of sadness, starting because of his friend who committed suicide. Most of his paintings during that time were all figures having sad and gloomy faces and/or being defeated. His “Rose Period” was inspired by a bunch of performers at a circus. He made paintings having to do with clowns and gymnasts wearing bright pink makeup. Cubism was also a type of time period of specific art. It was inspired by tribal masks and the art of Georges Braque. These paintings included a lot of detail and geometric shapes. Post-Cubism was an even more advanced type of art using symbolic shapes and many colors.
One of Picasso’s most famous paintings was the “La Vie.” This painting was inspired by his friend that killed himself. It was a part of the Blue Period. The painting was very dark and sad. It was about a man and a woman together, but being separated without knowing a thing. The colors in the painting were mostly blue and gray. The color blue was emphasising the separation between the couple.
My painting is a view from the beach during the sunset. I painted a palm tree for a little more detail. I painted a sunset because it is one of my most favorite things to draw, and I wanted to try painting one. Sunsets in real life are very beautiful. If you look from the ocean, you can see the sun shine on the water which makes an amazing view. I tried my best to make a beautiful sunset.
My experience with painting on a canvas was different from painting on paper. It was somewhat rough, but still a bit easy to paint on. It was my very first time painting on a canvas. I think the colors I used were very bright and calming. I painted a sunset that you would see from the ocean/ beach. I used many different paint brushes from really thin to really big ones.
During this project, I learned that you should always be calm when painting. I would want to do another project like this because it was a fun experience. One day, I would want to be like Pablo Picasso, making paintings that are very beautiful. I would also want to study more famous paintings from other artists all over the world. I like looking at paintings because artists can really put a lot of detail into them.

Respect Life Essay:
Dear Editor,
What would you do if your child was born with a disability? If my child was born with imperfections, I wouldn’t go through with abortion. Any child in the world is a child of God and we should accept them. We are all human beings and we should be fair to disabled people. Within this community, many people are being put down because of their imperfections, which is very unfair.
There are many decisions you can choose if you do not want your disabled child, but abortion shouldn’t be an option. They need their time to live just like everyone else does. Instead of abortion, you can give your child up for adoption or send them to a foster home. If a child has a disability, you should still let them live. They can turn out to be the next Maya Angelou, the next Mother Teresa, or maybe even the next American Idol. There can be a whole future for children with imperfections.
Giving a child up for adoption is one of the many options parents can choose if they do not want to keep their disabled child. This shows that you, as a parent, have at least tried your best to keep your child without killing it. Nobody in this world is perfect. We are all equal to God and should be treated fairly. Even though you cannot take care of your child, you should give them the opportunity to have what you can’t provide.
Children with imperfections shouldn’t be treated any differently from children without disabilities. We are all children of God and should be treated with love and kindness. Also, think about abortion before going through with it. If your child is born with a disability, they need their time to live in this world just as we all do.
Sincerely,
Student

To the right is a skit that my group and I did for Black History Month. Our important person was George Washington Carver.
